Your browser's cache temporarily stores files, scripts, and other web page contents in order to speed up your browsing experience. Cookies store information about sites you visit, such as your site settings. When you experience problems with Webtools, it may help to clear the browser cache and your cookies.
How to clear the Chrome cache and cookies
- In Chrome, at the top right, click the more button .
- Click More tools > Clear browsing data.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
- Check the boxes next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files."
- Click Clear data.
- Close Chrome, restart, and navigate to webtools.illinois.edu.
How to clear the Firefox cache and cookies
- In Firefox, at the top right, click the menu button and choose Options.
- Select the Privacy & Security panel.
- In the History section, click the "clear your recent history" link.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select Everything.
- Check the boxes next to "Cookies" and "Cache."
- Click Clear Now.
- Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
- Close Firefox, restart, and navigate to webtools.illinois.edu.
How to clear the Safari cache and cookies
- In Safari, at the top left, click Safari > Preferences.
- Click Privacy.
- Click Manage Website Data, then click Remove All.
- Close Safari, restart, and navigate to webtools.illinois.edu.
How to clear the Internet Explorer cache and cookies
- In Internet Explorer, at the top right, click the tools button and then select Safety > Delete browsing history.
- Check the boxes next to "Temporary Internet files and website files" and "Cookies and website data."
- Click Delete.
- Close IE, restart, and navigate to webtools.illinois.edu.
How to clear the Edge cache and cookies
- In Edge, at the top right, click the more button and then select Settings.
- Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
- Check the boxes next to "Cookies and saved website data" and "Cached data and files" and click Clear.
- Close Edge, restart, and navigate to webtools.illinois.edu.
