A "snowman" is ignited while two people juggle flaming "snowballs". A silver mirror appears inside a large glass flask.
Is it magic, or is it chemistry?
It's ... chemistry!
Produced by chemistry teaching faculty and students, the show demonstrates many principles of chemistry, including kinetics, thermodynamics, gas laws and atomic theory. The show will include about twenty-five demonstrations that explain the science behind the "magic" of chemistry.
The always-popular Holiday Magic Show, hosted by the Department of Chemistry and benefiting the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, will be held on three different dates in 2017:
- Wednesday, December 13th at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, December 16th at 2 p.m.
- Sunday, December 17th at 2 p.m.
This public event is family friendly and free! Non-perishable food items will be collected for the Eastern Illinois Food Bank as your ticket to the show!
There are no tickets. Each show is first come, first seated.
