The Lavie lab (UIC College of Medicine, Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics) is seeking an enthusiastic, research-loving, scientist to join their team.
The lab is developing novel biologic therapeutics for the treatment of cancer. This position is an opportunity to gain experience in recombinant protein production and purification, kinetic analysis of enzyme activity, and working with mice.
The work is highly translational, and the successful candidate may have an option of joining Enzyme by Design, the UIC-spinoff biotech startup that aims to translate the findings in the Lavie laboratory to real-life solutions for cancer patients. In fact, Enzyme by Design
(www.enzymebydesign.com) has recently won the MedCity INVEST pitch contest in the BioPharma category (https://medcitynews.com/2019/04/here-are-the-winners-from-2019s-medcity-invest-pitch-perfect-contest/), and presented in iBio Showcase (https://ibio.org/enzyme-by-design/), which demonstrates validation by the industry for our commercialization strategy.
