via Wellness through Asian American Narratives and Theater:
Please consider enrolling in our new Wellness Through Asian American Narratives and Theater (WAANT) program at UIC as a Capstone Project or independent study.
WAANT is housed at the Department of Disability and Human Development and is co-facilitated by Dr. Rooshey Hasnain and student advocates, along with the Center for Immigrant Resources and Community Arts (CIRCA Pintig) and Digital Tapestries, Asian/Asian American artists, and social justice groups, that support disability and mental health justice work.
Although the program will run in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023, you are not obligated to sign up for both semesters. If you find yourself interested in continuing this exciting opportunity, however, and want to complete both semesters, you are welcome to exercise that option..
The focus varies across the two semesters. In Fall 2022, enrollees will participate in a series of community story-collecting workshops. In Spring 2023 we will integrate these stories into a wide variety of art forms (theater productions/performances, poetry, music, digital film clips, comics, photographs, and other visual media).
