Are you interested in study/research or teaching abroad? Join OEF for Fulbright sessions!
Students at all levels are welcome to attend any/all of the daily Fulbright info sessions between April 5-8, because now is the best time to learn about this amazing opportunity. RSVP for any/all sessions here. We will share the Zoom link only with folks who RSVP.
The Fulbright US Student Program offers research, study, and teaching opportunities in 140+ countries around the globe. During their federally funded grants, Fulbrighters will meet, work, live with and learn from the people of their host country, sharing daily experiences. The program facilitates cultural exchange through direct interaction on an individual basis in the classroom, field, home, and everyday tasks, allowing the grantees to gain an appreciation of others’ viewpoints and beliefs, the way they do things, and the way they think. Through engagement in the community, Fulbrighters will interact with their hosts on a one-to-one basis in an atmosphere of openness, academic integrity, and intellectual freedom, thereby promoting mutual understanding. Each year, Fulbright sends over 2000 American college graduates and graduate students overseas, and UIC students are among this group every year.
The application cycle to fund a year abroad in 2022-2023 opens on March 31. For UIC undergraduates who plan to graduate in May 2022, this will be your first opportunity to apply for the Fulbright, though you are eligible to apply until you have a PhD in hand. OEF provides extensive advisement and support to all UIC undergraduates (and undergraduate alumni) applying for the Fulbright beginning now, since the new application is set to open. Students typically work with OEF through the summer on developing and revising their Fulbright applications.
