Council on Honors Education Webinar on Perfectionism and Student Mental Health (free)
This Wednesday, September 4th, the Council on Honors Education is offering a free webinar presentation by clinical psychologist, Dr. Margaret Rutherford, author of Perfectly Hidden Depression. Dr. Rutherford will be speaking directly to honors students about the relationship between the rigors of honors education, the goal-driven perfectionism that can camouflage underlying emotional pain, and the mental health impacts that can exist as an unrevealed struggle within ambitious, high-achieving undergraduates. A vital question, Dr. Rutherford suggests, is “Where is the line – where is my line - between academic success and emotional stability?” Dr. Rutherford’s 2023 TEDx on “perfectly hidden depression” has earned over 1M views.
