Take HON 142 Theatre: Play with a Purpose!
38373 TR 3:30 – 4:45 pm SYNCH R. Corley (General Education: Understanding Creative Arts)
Theatre is a creative art that involves critical thinking, collaboration, and imagination. In this course, students engage with theatre practice through a variety of experiential creative exercises, written assignments, lecture/demonstrations, and attendance at two UIC performances.
Classes involve students directly in the creative process of acting, directing, design and playwriting, using the rationale that engagement with the artistic means of production results in a stronger ability to express the nature of art. THEATRE: PLAY WITH A PURPOSE goes beyond reading or watching plays to give students a hands-on approach to doing theatre, encouraging them to connect the practice of theatre to other disciplines such as science, business, and social work.
