IGNITE Leadership Experience – Participants
Ignite is an eight-week program that supports first- and second-year undergraduate students as they begin to navigate and explore the concepts of leadership and self-reflection. Meeting once a week with peer facilitators and mentors, Ignite participants gain access to valuable campus resources, along with gaining insight into the values, support, and competencies needed for positive involvement at UIC. Using a passion-driven action plan, students distinguish key identities, values, and issues that matter to them. Upon completion of the program, students will feel better connected with the UIC community, feel more in touch with their personal goals, and become a change agent for the future.
Sessions are held every Tuesday afternoon from 4-6pm starting September 22, 2020 and ending October 27, 2020
Unfortunately, due to the nature of a program, class/work/personal conflicts that overlap with the program schedule will not be excused. Please consider applying for the next run of the program in Spring 2021.
For Fall 2020, we will be looking to have this program take place in person, virtually, or synchronously (both in person and virtual at the same time). Selected participants will be informed via email of the format of the program before they need to confirm their commitment.

IGNITE Leadership Experience – Student Mentors
As engaged leaders, Ignite Mentors will help guide the leadership explorations of first- and second-year UIC students. The ideal mentor will have some leadership experience and, most importantly, be committed to engaging with leadership on a personal, academic, and professional level. Ignite mentors will gain confidence in their interpersonal, facilitation, and advising skills - all critical areas of need for graduate school and the workforce.
Requirements for IGNITE Mentors:
- Must be a in at least your 2nd year at UIC.
- We are seeking involved students with a passion for helping other students find their place at UIC.
- Must commit to attend every IGNITE session on Tuesday afternoons from 4pm-6pm starting September 22 and ending October 27.
- Unfortunately, due to the nature of our program, if you have a class/work/personal conflict that overlaps with the program schedule, you are not eligible to apply for the program. Please consider applying next year!
