Calling all student activists!
Emergency contraception (EC, sometimes called Plan B) is an important option for preventing pregnancy after sex – but it can be difficult to get. The American Society for Emergency Contraception (ASEC) is expanding the advisory committee for our Emergency Contraception for Every Campus (EC4EC) project. The mission of EC4EC is to expand access to EC on college campuses through 1) advocating for an EC vending machines on campus and/or 2) developing a peer-to-peer EC distribution system. We are looking for 3 students from diverse backgrounds, campuses, and geographical regions to advise and shape the project along with our existing advisory committee members. Primary responsibilities include participating in:
- Calls & email discussions with ASEC staff and the EC4EC committee
- Social media for the project (content creation, managing posts, strategy, etc)
- Leading and monitoring an online student engagement platform
Student Advisory Committee members will be paid a $1,000 honorarium (payable in 2 installments at the beginning and end of the project). The appointment period will run from November 2020 - December 2021. Total time commitment is not expected to exceed 50 hours.
Students at all levels (undergraduate, graduate, professional schools) are welcome, but applicants must be in school through at least December 2021 (preferably May 2022 or later).
Please complete this form by November 10, 2020, and we will be in touch individually with applicants if we have further questions. Please email Kelly (kelly@americansocietyforec.org) or Nicola (nicola@americansocietyforec.org) with any questions.
