Chicago Signature Honors Program (CSHP) Fall 2021 Season - Classics & Comebacks!
Following a long hiatus as a result of COVID-19, the Chicago Signature Honors Program (CSHP) is proud to announce the Fall 2021 season: Classics & Comebacks. Classics & Comebacks highlights all that makes Chicago unique in a time when the arts and entertainment industry of the second city works to make a grand return following, for most, nearly a year of dormancy. This season will kick off with a trip to The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) to see the exhibit, Chicago Comics: 1960’s to Now on Sunday, September 26th at 1pm, with other outings to places like the Joffrey Ballet, the Lyric Opera, and a street art tour; the details and registration for which will be announced and made available soon.
CSHP Fall 2021 – MCA Chicago Comics: 1960’s to Now Exhibit Visit on 9/26
In the meantime, we hope you will join us on Sunday, 9/26 at 1pm, for a special visit to the MCA for a self-guided group viewing of the exhibit, Chicago Comics: 1960’s to Now in the Girffin Galleries of Contemporary Art. From MCA’s website: “The exhibition traces the evolution of comics in Chicago, as cartoonists ventured beyond the pages of newspapers and into experimental territory including long-form storytelling, countercultural critique, and political activism. Chicago Comics examines styles, schools of thought, and modes of publication across six decades of cartooning, including works from artists who are changing the medium today. The exhibition seeks to bring to the fore artists of color who were previously under-recognized throughout their careers. In this pursuit, the exhibition features archival material previously not seen in museums and offers a revised history of the art form. Represented throughout this timeline are special sections that highlight key artists including Kerry James Marshall, Lynda Barry, and Chris Ware.”
