INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Gujarati or Hindi-speaking Research Study Assistant Internship
We are looking for an upperclassman student to assist with daily activities for a National Institutes of Health-funded research study titled SAHELI “South Asian Healthy Lifestyle Initiative” (www.sahelistudy.org) under Dr. Namratha Kandula, M.D., M.P.H. This opportunity will help students gain experience working in clinical research and community settings.
Ideal for any pre-health student. Ability to communicate in Gujarati or Hindi is preferred.
Job Description Includes:
Complete Northwestern University Institutional Review Board training online.
• Assist in community outreach and participant recruitment in a community setting.
• Assist with the study screening and assessments held at various community partner
sites for the research study. Follow-up with participants and ask health survey questions of participants either over online video chat or telephone.
• Assist in building connections with community members and community organizations.
• Willing to travel via personal vehicle to community sites (north side, west side, & downtown) for study-related tasks.
• Assist with mailing recruitment materials and results to study participants and other administrative tasks.
• Participate in research meetings with all SAHELI coordinators/investigators at Northwestern University to learn about recruitment updates, clinical exam updates, the progress of the study.
• Committing at least 15-20 hours per week as an intern, if not more.
• Committing to working with us for a period of at least 6 months or more.
All activities will be supervised by a research project manager, Emily Anderson.
