Who: The ICOMPASS Laboratory located in the Department of Physical Therapy at UIC is looking for research assistant volunteers to work on a human subject research study (the INERTIA Study). We are looking for detail-oriented, reliable, meticulous, organized, and self-motivated individuals who are interested in health promotion through lifestyle and behavior modification. This is an excellent opportunity to gain research/ independent study credit hours or volunteer work for your resumes. Positions are open for undergraduate and graduate students
What: The INERTIA Study is focused on testing a resistance training intervention that is aimed to improve muscle strength and function and reduce blood pressure in older adults with a condition known as sarcopenia. Dr. Deepika Laddu is the PI of the INERTIA study. If selected, some duties may include
• Participant recruitment and screening, scheduling and designing retention activities (newsletters etc), Data entry, database management,
• Measuring lower-extremity muscle strength and physical performance testing related to balance and gait
• Advanced research assistants might have opportunities to be involved in the process of planning, implementing, and presenting research projects (e.g., Capstone projects) and have the opportunity to receive course credit for their work in the lab.
When: Available to start immediately
Where: ICOMPASS Laboratory, AHSB Rm 422; remote opportunities will also be considered
