Laboratory Assistant (Water Sampling Technician / Water Microbiology Laboratory)
Water Sampling Technician
Water sampling technicians will drive to approximately 5-6 beaches and collect water samples following a research protocol. Water samples will be collected and delivered to the UIC School of Public Health Water Microbiology Laboratory (2121 W. Taylor Street) for analysis. This will involve a total of 10-20 miles of driving per day. Technicians will begin work at approximately 5:30 AM (sunrise), and finish at approximately 8:00 AM. In addition to the hourly salary, water-sampling technicians will also be paid for miles driven at the UIC mileage rate ($0.67/mile).
Qualifications: Students must be enrolled in a UIC undergraduate or graduate degree program. Successful applicants must have their own vehicle, valid driver's license, auto insurance, and a good driving record.

Water Microbiology Laboratory Technician
Laboratory technicians will process water samples and conduct preliminary water quality analysis. This work will take place from 7:30 AM-12:30 PM.
Qualifications: Students must be enrolled in a UIC undergraduate or graduate degree program. The ideal candidate would have prior biology or chemistry laboratory course work.
