What: Performance practicum class Spring 2023 to create an environmental justice focused, site-specific, public performance event as Chicago’s first participation in Global Water Dances.
Why: Water links all life together in essential ways threatened by rapidly increasing environmental degradation, disproportionately affecting communities that experience environmental racism and classism more than others. As part of UIC's Teaching Sustainability Initiative, this practicum is a joyful, creative way to participate in UIC's commitment to freshwater sustainability, using the power of dance as a to call to action to care for local and global concerns about water
