You are invited, and enthusiastically encouraged, to attend “A Mock Mediation Session” conducted by UIC alum, Justice Michael Gallagher (Ret.), on Tuesday, February, 19, 2019 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm in Daley Library room 1-1470. Food will be served!
Don’t know what mediation is? Come find out on the 19th! Justice Gallagher will describe how mediation has become an important tool in the litigation process, how it works, and the lawyer’s role in a successful mediation.
Several of your pre-law classmates have volunteered to portray litigants and their attorneys in a personal injury case. Justice Gallagher, who currently owns Michael J. Gallagher Mediation Services, LLC, will lead our parties through a mediation session. Justice Gallagher plans to spend time outlining his career path and answering student’s questions.
A little bit about our guest alum: Justice Gallagher is an honors graduate of both the University of Illinois at Chicago where he received his B.A. and the Chicago-Kent College of Law where he was awarded his J.D. Justice Gallagher was also awarded a Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Chicago in 2010. Justice Gallagher started his career as an attorney with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission where he argued matters before the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals. He then served as a Law Clerk to Justice William G. Clark of the Illinois Supreme Court. Before his judicial appointment to the Circuit Court of Cook County, he was in private practice at Cassiday, Schade, focusing on medical malpractice, construction accident litigation and personal injury defense, and was made a partner in 1985.
