Undergraduate Research Assistant for Project on Comprehension, Hypothetical Reasoning, and MCAT Preparation and Study Behaviors
We are looking for motivated individuals to help us with a study examining how students engage in hypothetical reasoning from complex texts (i.e. reading comprehension questions similar to those on the CARS section of the MCAT that start with Suppose that..., Imagine if..., What if...?). Preference will be given to those with interests in cognitive psychology, education, or learning sciences. As undergraduate assistants, students will assist with various research tasks, including data collection, organization, and entry, qualitative data analyses, and interview transcription.
Students must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors and have a strong academic record (3.5 GPA). No research experience is required. Students will receive 1 credit hour for every 3 hours of work per week (PSCH396) and are eligible to receive additional monetary compensation (work-study approval required). Students can also earn credit for an Honors College activity. Additionally, students may apply to complete their honors capstone project from data collected as a part of the larger study. Conference presentation and publication opportunities are available.
