The Sixth Festival, Chicago, is a climate festival holding its inaugural 2021 run from April 22 to May 2!
Curated primarily by a group of concerned artists, the festival is a manifestation of collective action, a counteroffensive intended to illuminate issues and concerns surrounding the ongoing climate crisis. The festival's fundamental goal is to bring people together through a wide variety of events -- artistic, educational, participatory, and so forth -- designed to inform, uplift, and inspire inhabitants of this world to take action. Together, we can multiply our collective power and prevent the sixth mass extinction on our planet.
For a two-week span, The Sixth Festival, Chicago, will be hosting 25 events that are absolutely free to the general public, including but not limited to: (1) a poetry slam hosted by Marc Smith, founder of the poetry slam movement, (2) a Zoom presentation and discussion with representatives from the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club, and (3) a screening of the documentary The Great Green Wall, which explores the African Union's initiative to combat desertification across the continent.
