General Information
To be eligible to tutor with the Honors College, you must have completed 2 semesters at UIC at the time you begin tutoring, be in good standing in the Honors College, and have a cumulative UIC GPA of 3.4 or higher.
- Tutors commit to a regular schedule of 4 hours per week for one semester, plus occasional meetings, and training. Depending on the status of the pandemic, some meetings or trainings may occur in-person.
- Starting in Fall 2022, tutors will have the option to tutor for the entire 2022-2023 academic year. Assuming successful completion of Fall semester, no reapplication will be required although students will need to recertify their intent to tutor.
- You must be prepared to offer tutoring in a minimum of 3 courses in which you have received an A or B grade. Most tutors offer more.
- This is a volunteer position that may be used to earn Honors Units, in a separate category from other service or leadership activities.
- Fall 2022 tutoring will be a combination of in-person and online.

This is a competitive application process, and a brief recommendation is required. You are responsible for contacting your recommender; the deadline for their recommendation is also Monday, May 16 at 11:59 pm.
