  • New GPPA – Chicago Kent College of Law Program, Sophomores Apply by Mon. 12/15 (Extended Deadline)

The deadline for sophomores to apply for this exciting opportunity has been extended. Applications will be accepted through December 15.

The Honors College at the University of Illinois at Chicago is pleased to announce a partnership with the Chicago-Kent College of Law that will provide guaranteed seats for UIC graduates in the law school. This Guaranteed Professional Program Admission initiative (GPPA) will join 23 other GPPA programs in 11 colleges that allow new first year students to be admitted to UIC with guaranteed admission to one of several graduate and professional degree programs. For the first time, however, the GPPA Chicago-Kent College of Law program will also extend admission to current undergraduate students.

Specifically, starting in the 2014-2015 academic year, the Honors College's Guaranteed Professional Program Admission initiative will offer sophomore entry to the program. For this first year only, we will offer a special fall entry for current sophomores (future deadlines will be in the summer).

UIC sophomores currently in their 3rd semester of study at UIC can apply by December 15, 2014 at https://uofi.uic.edu/fb/sec/1081171

Students in the program must complete a bachelor's degree at UIC prior to entering the Chicago-Kent College of Law.

The IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law's history dates to 1888. The law school developed from the merger of the Chicago College of Law and the Kent College of Law. A 1969 merger made it part of the Illinois Institute of Technology. The law school has earned many accolades including being ranked 6th nationally in Trial Advocacy and 10th in Intellectual Property by U.S. News & World Report (March 2014). It is also considered a Best Value private law school by the National Jurist (October 2013), and its faculty ranks 52nd in the nation based on scholarly impact (Sisk et al., 2012). The bar passage rate for Chicago-Kent law graduates in 2013 was 93%.

We are excited to offer this prestigious pathway to a career in law to our students.

Additional requirements for the program apply. Please direct questions about the program to Beth Powers at bpowers@uic.edu.
