  • Write for UIC News!

    UIC News is seeking student contributors to write stories for our weekly Student Voice page. We will occasionally email story ideas to our contributors to select from on a first-come, first-served basis. We also accept story ideas and submissions from contributors.

    UIC News is also accepting applications for two interns to add a student voice to its work in news and social media for the fall semester. It's a great opportunity to gain experience writing for print and online, including news and feature writing, video and social media. Applicants should have experience in writing for publications (online or print) and an interest in journalism. Video and photography skills are a plus. Interns must enroll in an internship course (in the English department or LAS) for elective credit.

    We will also be accepting applications for weekly bloggers to share their experiences as UIC students starting over the summer or fall semester. Bloggers are required to post once per week and are paid $50 per month. View examples at http://iam.uic.edu

  • Paid tutoring position with Empowerment through Education and Exposure

    Empowerment Through Education and Exposure is hiring part-time tutors for children.  The tutor will work about 4 hours per week at one of several locations throughout the metro Chicago area.  The position pays $15/hour.  Some tutoring sites continue through the end of the semester while others may end in March and/or April.  See the attached flyer for a complete job description and list of required qualifications.  Contact Erica Earnest at eearnest@eeeyouth.org with questions.

    Are you a leader passionate about healthy food, farms and kids?  Then we want you to be a FoodCorps Service Member!  Application is open now through March 30th, 2014.

    FoodCorps recruits talented leaders for a year of paid public service building healthy school food environments in limited-resource communities.  FoodCorps service members implement a three-ingredient recipe for healthy kids:

    • TEACH children about what healthy food is and where it comes from

    • BUILD and tend school gardens 

    • BRING quality local food into public school cafeterias

    As a service member, you will be placed with one service site for your year-long term. Service sites are community organizations that operate in partnership with one of our fifteen host sites, statewide organizations that help run FoodCorps in each of the places FoodCorps serves: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Hawai'i, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina and Oregon.

  • Learning Sciences Research Institute Undergraduate Tech Hourly Position

    The Learning Sciences Research Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking an undergraduate hourly employee to assist with the technical support needs of the Institute.  Qualified candidates will have expertise in the following areas: 

    • Ability to troubleshoot both Macintosh and Windows platforms as well as peripherals (printers, UIC Wireless, network, projectors). LSRI is 70% Mac. 

    • Firm understanding of Windows Servers, its components (Active Directory and IIS), and how the departmental servers interact with the greater university networking structure. Linux Server knowledge is also helpful. 

    • Maintenance of said file and web servers including monitoring backups and error logs 

    • Experience creating both Access and MYSQL database-driven websites with ASP and PHP. 

    • Assist in developing custom applications for projects (e.g. data collection websites) 

    • HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Bluestem, Drupal 

    • Assist in providing media services for projects (video taping, editing) 

    Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary.

    The Institute of Reading Development is seeking candidates for summer 2014 teaching positions. We seek applicants with an undergraduate degree or higher from any discipline. We provide a paid training program and comprehensive on-going support.

  • Paid Editorial Internship with Foreign Affairs for Recent Grads, Apply by Mon. 2/3

    Foreign Affairs is looking for an Academic Year Intern to join the editorial team.

    The Academic Year Internship is a full-time paid position in New York City offering exceptional training in serious journalism. The intern works as an assistant editor with substantial responsibility. Previous interns have included recent graduates from undergraduate and master’s programs. Candidates should have a serious interest in international relations, a flair for writing, and a facility with the English language.

    The position lasts for one year, starting in late spring or early summer.
