The re-designed Web Services Calendar will be released Tuesday, January 4, 2011. There will be no impact on units. All URLs will continue to work and all skins will be updated for the new look and feel.
Thanks to everyone that provided feedback on the new Calendar. And special thanks to the Calendar team consisting of Robert Slater, Hadi Rangin, Michael McKelvey, and Tim Offenstein. The team provided significant help with functionality, accessibility, and usability. And adjustments are still being made.
After the release units may customize their skin/calendar any way they like. All old Calendar CSS in the Skin Designer will be deleted and replaced with the new CSS. The new CSS is structured to allow simple modification of widths, colors, tabs (on/off), search (on/off), speaker and location in list view (on/off), add event icon (on/off), and much more.
The functionality toolbar at the top of the new calendar includes:
- Sharing with Social Media
- Send to Friend
- RSS Feed
- Calendar Information
- Contact Information
- Add Events
- Exports for Outlook and iCal - we are now using third party software to export iCal. We are unable to make any modifications to this software, however we will stay up to date with the most recent version.
Adjustments are still being made but here is a working version of the new calendar. This version has tabs and borders on and search fields turned off except for the search tab. Units will be able to choose any combination of styling they prefer.
More details will be provided as the release date approaches.
