Here are some important announcements for all NRES online Graduate Students.
- Virtually attending Oral Capstone Presentations
You are invited to attend any of the upcoming MS online Oral Capstone Presentations. To log in go to: https://sas.elluminate.com/m.jnlp?password=M.19C11EA0056D5D3BC3797830F6AFA1&sid=407 . For courtesy to the speaker, we ask that you please log on at least 5 minutes before the presentation and refrain from asking questions until the speaker has completed the presentation. The upcoming speakers are posted on the NRES online Student Calendar. To view the list of upcoming presentations go to http://nres.illinois.edu/online-program/resources. The first presentation this term will be:

- Scheduling your Capstone Presentation for NRES 505
Oral presentations for NRES 505, theInternship option, will be scheduled on selected dates this spring whether you are presenting on- campus or virtually. If you are planning to complete your Internship Capstone requirements and present your final project to the Graduate Committee this semester, please note that you may not select your date until your draft of the final paper has been reviewed and approved. You must select your date at least 3 weeks in advance of your scheduled presentation. The presentations will be scheduled on March 7 & 14 and April 4 & 11 only! The times are 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
- Scheduling Oral Presentation/Exam for NRES 501 and 503
For May graduation, the deadline for the oral presentation/examination is the same as the Doctoral Defense deadline – April 11, 2014. You must present on or before this date in order to graduate in May! Prior to scheduling your oral presentation/exam, you must have submitted your draft project paper to your research advisor for review and comments, received his/her approval, AND received his/her permission to schedule your presentation. Scheduling must be done at least three weeks in advance of the presentation. To schedule, please contact Renee Gracon at gracon1@illinois.edu or Karen Claus at kclaus@illinois.edu.
- Graduate Seminar Series
The graduate seminar series is available to all online students. This spring series has an outstanding line-up of dynamic speakers presenting on a wide variety of terrific research topics. The spring schedule is available online: http://nres.illinois.edu/seminars/upcoming Students wishing to earn credit for attending and summarizing all sessions should enroll in NRES 500. You may enroll a maximum of 2 times for academic credit.

- February 3 - 10th Day of Class Reminders!
By the 10th Day of Classes (Monday, February 3) Graduate students should be correctly registered for spring term. It is important to check your registration before February 3 on Student Web Self Service to make sure that you are registered for the courses that you are attending and attending the courses for which you are registered. If necessary, make any corrections by adding and dropping courses before February 3.
In addition, February 3 is the last day for the following:
Drop courses to reduce your number of credit hours you are registered for to a lower tuition range and receive a refund for the difference between the two ranges
Add a semester course without permission
Submit forms to audit a semester course (see below)
Add a first half-session course
Students should be registered appropriately no later than February 3 in order to avoid possible issues with
Tuition/Fee Assessment
Financial aid
Loan deferment
Health Insurance
Academic Record/Graduation issues
- May Graduation
Students who plan on having all degree requirements completed to graduate in May 2014, should add themselves to the May degree conferral list via UI Integrate Self-Service. Please contact your department with any questions or if you have problems adding yourself to the list via Self-Service.
- Spring Semester Lync to Lync activations for all new Graduate and Professional Students
All graduate and professional students are able to use Lync, the University’s online communication service. With Lync, you can instant message, voice chat, and video chat, with other University of Illinois Lync accounts.
CITES has already created accounts for graduate and professional students. Simply download the Lync software and log in with your NetID and password to begin using Lync.
