The Graduate College now offers a "Masters Capstone Project Travel Grant" for which NRES online MS students may be eligible. The grant is designed to support the research of students completing a terminal masters degree (meaning that special projects may be eligible). Follow the link to the full story for more information.
The Masters Capstone Project Travel Grants provide reimbursement to support travel-related costs incurred for the completion of an off-campus, short-term project required of one of the University's terminal or professional masters degree programs. NRES Student Services believes that NRES masters students completing the non-thesis option are likely to be eligible for the award. More information is available at https://www.grad.illinois.edu/fellowship/listing/3301.
Only projects that satisfy all three of the following requirements are eligible:
- The project is short-term.
- Theh project satisfies requirements for the terminal or professional master's degree.
- The required project takes place outside of Urbana-Champaign (travel is required).
Typical projects would include travel for performance or exhibition that is required for degree completion. Projects not eligible for support include internships, practicums, thesis research, independent study, conference travel, and traveling for a performance or exhibition that is not required for degree completion.
The application deadline for the spring competition (which includes travel completed through August 31, 2011) is March 2, 2011. Please note that the announcement says March 9th, but that is for the Department to get its selected nominees to the Graduate College. If you want to be considered by NRES, you must provide the required application materials by March 2nd.
