Hello NRES online MS students!
We have a great NRES seminar series planned for Spring 2012, and we are thrilled to be able to offer it to our on-line MS students! We have invited a lot of dynamic speakers to present their research on a terrific mix of topics. I think everyone will learn a lot!
Seminar schedule
The seminar schedule for fall is available on-line: http://nres.illinois.edu/seminars/upcoming
The on-line seminar schedule also includes a link to each speaker's website. I would encourage you to visit the websites to learn a bit about each speaker, and perhaps read some of the speaker's recent publications.
See the full article for more information about NRES 500.

Viewing the seminars
We will post a link to a video of each weekly seminar on Compass no later than 1 week following the seminar (the delay is necessary to allow college communications personnel to produce and edit the video for on-line viewing).
Requirements for NRES 500 credit
Students who are enrolled in NRES 500 XM for credit are required to view the video of the seminar each week, and to fill out a brief questionnaire online about each seminar. The questionnaires can be found at the NRES 500 link in Compass:
https://compass2g.illinois.edu/ and should be submitted through links within Compass.
We will be using Compass 2G this semester, which is quite similar to old Compass, but with a new interface.
This is an asynchronous course, meaning you can view the seminar videos at your own pace, but questionnaires should be completed within 2 weeks after we post the link to the seminar.
Submission of these questionnaires is required to receive credit.
Please let us know immediately if you have any questions or problems with viewing the seminar videos or submitting questionnaires through Compass.
NRES seminar committee
Seminar coordinators for this year are Angela Kent (akent@illinois.edu) and Tony Yannarell (acyann@illinois.edu). Please contact us with any questions or comments about seminar.
