2019 Wild Things Conference: For people and nature
We are eager to announce that several current NRES students and alumni will be speaking at the Wild Things Conference, on February 23, between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N River Rd, Rosemont, IL 60018.
According to the conference planners, this biennial event “will feature more than 100 presentations, 60 exhibits, a Poster Session and networking opportunities – all celebrating this region’s nature and how people enjoy and protect it”.
Volunteers are needed to help at an NRES table in the Exhibit Hall to promote the University of Illinois, and especially the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. You can sign up for a shift by going to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SYrV7frS9F_I281_kvdBLCLkbWolFsKqD8A76La-j5s/edit?usp=sharing. We especially need help during the lunch period, if you are available.
Following the conference we are planning a social get-together at 6:00 pm at a nearby restaurant (details forthcoming!). Please let Renee (gracon1@illinois.edu) know if you are interested in joining us there so we can estimate the number of people.
Tickets are only $45.00 and ticket sales end February 9th. (One paid registration to offset the cost is available for an NRES student or alumnus. Please contact Renee or Piper for more information.)
Preliminary conference program information including session details, speakers and more are listed on the Wild Things Schedule site: https://wildthings2019.sched.com/.
