  • Illinois Cyber Security Scholars Program

    ICSSP is a scholarship for service program intended for students interested in specializing in cybersecurity and who want to work for the government upon graduation. Accepted students receive an amazing scholarship that includes a full tuition water plus a generous stipend to support educational expenses. Typically we offer the scholarship for a student's in their last 2 years of a degree program and in return, these scholars need to work for the government for the number of years they receive the scholarship.

  • Illinois Science of Security (SoS) Summer Internship

    The Information Trust Institute (ITI) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, part of the NSA Science of Security Lablet program, invites applications for a unique research experience for students. Selected applicants will spend eight weeks at ITI pursuing a research program of their own design, under the mentorship of ITI faculty and/or staff. The objective will be to advance research, which may be submitted for a poster session at the next HotSoS Science of Security Symposium. In addition to the research, the summer internship program will include weekly seminars and instruction regarding research issues such as ethics, research writing, presenting, creating posters, and grad school preparation.

    The program committee will select participants based on academic record and a 5-page proposal outlining the proposed research project. Both domestic and international students studying at a U.S. university are eligible to apply. Selected applicants will have lodging provided and receive a stipend and meal allowance. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign students are not eligible housing or a meal allowance.

  • Lurie Cancer Center Undergraduate Summer Research Internships

    Administrators at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University invite undergraduate students interested in biomedical and health sciences to participate in leading-edge cancer research and career exploration.  Participants work full-time (35-40 hours/week) under the mentorship of top cancer researchers in state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities to help advance novel research projects in cell and molecular biology, cancer immunology, metabolism, clinical investigation, developmental therapeutics, genomics, population science, health disparities, bioinformatics and other focus areas.  Immersive research training is complemented by faculty lectures, skills workshops, and career development activities.

    SULI Program Overview

    The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories.   • Undergraduate Research Assistant Needed: Civil and Environmental Engineering

    Project Description: 

    The research project aims to determine which farm field management techniques are best at mitigating agricultural nitrogen losses associated with fertilization. To accomplish this, we collect and analyze air, water, and soil samples from fields utilizing different field management (fertilization rates, tillage, and cover cropping).

    Requirements

    The student should be interested and capable of spending time in the field. Field duties will include carrying equipment; installing sampling systems; collecting air, water, and soil samples; and maintaining detailed field notes. The student will need to have at least one morning each week available to dedicate to field work.

    *Preference for students within Civil and Environmental Engineering and/or those considering graduate school
