• Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) The Future of Discovery: Training Students to Build and Apply Open Source Machine Learning Models and Tools (FODOMMaT) program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is seeking students to apply for a 10-week paid summer training experience in machine learning. Successful applicants will work full-time on one of cutting-edge FODOMMaT research projects that develop open-source machine learning models and tools and use them to solve real-world problems.

The Program Award for Technical and Higher-Education (PATH), sponsored by National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), offers scholarships to students from Minority Serving Institutions pursuing a technical certificate, associate, bachelor, or graduate degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM)-discipline that supports the critical needs of the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).  The NNSA PATH Scholarship will provide financial support to students who demonstrate a desire to pursue a STEM-focused academic pathway that applies to the NNSA Mission Directorate; expose students to STEM-related research taking place at community colleges, undergraduate and graduate colleges and universities; connect students to other NNSA MSI-supported students, faculty, and alumni; and expose students to STEM-based careers at NNSA and the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).

Diversity in Cancer Research (DICR) is a cancer research training program for undergraduates interested in careers in biomedicine.  For ten weeks during the summer, participants work full time in the laboratories of established cancer researchers at the University of Chicago, gaining hands-on experience in areas at the forefront of the field. 

Rigorous research training is complemented with year-round career development and skill-building workshops, leadership training, opportunities in community outreach and engagement, and personalized mentorship for post-baccalaureate transitions.

ExxonMobil, one of the world’s largest publicly traded International oil & gas companies, has partnered with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) to create fellowships in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for Hispanic college students. Through HHF’s Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program, ExxonMobil seeks to nurture motivated college students across the country, with a passion for Engineering and Science.

Selected students will be exposed to a top quality company by participating in this signature mentoring program. Each student will be paired up with one of ExxonMobil engineers/scientists to learn how their knowledge is applied in a corporate setting.

Fellowship Components

The Fellowship consists of five 1-hour meetings with a mentor (virtual or in person), participation in the Harvard-certified ExxonMobil mentee program (on-line), an exclusive curriculum to introduce Fellows to the organization and company career opportunities, and a $1,000 educational grant. In addition, there exists the possibility to interview for ExxonMobil positions (internships/full-time) upon successful completion of the Fellowship.

Fellowship Requirements

This opportunity is highly competitive and open to sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students attending a 4-year college or university.
- Fellowship applicants with the following majors will be given priority:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering

The NSF-funded Materials REU at the University of California, Irvine, is an 8-week, fully funded, summer research program with a focus on the design, synthesis, and characterization of new materials with novel functionalities for energy, healthcare, aerospace, and environmental sustainability.

The program is intended for rising junior and senior undergraduates who are interested in attending graduate school in a STEM field. Students from underrepresented groups in STEM are particularly encouraged to apply.

FoDOMMaT (The Future of Discovery: Training Students to Build and Apply Open Source Machine Learning Models and Tools) is a 10-week on-site summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).  FoDOMMaT will bring together 10 undergraduate students, particularly those who would otherwise lack such an opportunity, to work on cutting-edge projects from May 20 – July 26, 2024.  The program will begin with a week-long training where students are taught machine learning (ML) / deep learning (/DL) methods.  They will work for the remaining nine weeks on a specific research project under the guidance of a pair of research mentors, one from the project’s research area and the other with expertise in machine learning.

The Syracuse University Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Research Program is a paid summer research opportunity that provides undergraduate scholars with the opportunity to work with distinguished faculty and staff as well as network with others in their field of interest. Student scholars have the opportunity to conduct and present research over a ten-week period under the direction of a faculty research mentor at Syracuse University.

Division of General Studies – Summer Registration Computer Lab Peer Advisor

The Division of General Studies is seeking students to aid with summer registration by helping academic advisors assist incoming students with registering for classes for the fall semester.  Read more for further information.

The Anne Elizabeth Suratt Memorial Scholarship Fund is designated for juniors, seniors or fifth year undergraduates. Applicants must be of junior, senior or fifth year status in the Fall 2018 semester. Preference is also given to students with demonstrated financial need. In addition, students must demonstrate vision, perseverance and enthusiasm for his/her chosen field. This application and all supporting materials must be received or postmarked by the EXTENDED deadline of March 8, 2019.

This REU site within the Chemical Engineering Department at Columbia University provides the perfect opportunity to gain research experience related to climate and health solutions while also experiencing life, culture and career opportunities in New York City. You will have a chance to conduct research in a chemical engineering lab at Columbia while living and experiencing NYC with your cohort of 10 students as well as students from Columbia and a wide range of other colleges and universities. The HACIA Scholarship & Education Foundation has established an undergraduate scholarship award for Latino students enrolled in a technology, architecture, engineering, construction, and professional services industries curriculum at an accredited university.  The Scholarship Committee will be selecting candidates for a monetary award of $5,000 to be used toward college costs.

To receive the fullest consideration, Scholarship Applications must be either received via email or postmarked by Friday, December 8, 2023.  Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
