After its summer-long closure for renovations, Krannert Art Museum (KAM) is set to partially reopen on August 22, 2016. Museum hours are Monday–Saturday 9am–5pm; Thursdays (beginning August 25) the museum is open late until 9pm.
The Peabody Street entrance, connected to the Link Gallery, is recommended for visitors to the Espresso Royale Cafe and especially, students attending classes in KAM 62. This main entrance features storage lockers for large items and stairs/elevator for lower level access to permanent galleries, the Giertz Education Center, and KAM 62.
The Sixth Street Kinkead Pavilion entrance will be open, providing main level access to the Bow Gallery and Trees Gallery of pre-modern European and American painting and sculpture and the Contemporary Gallery, which will feature Borderland Collective: Northern Triangle (exhibition and reading room/resource area, opening August 26). The Kinkead Pavilion is fully accessible, including stairs/elevator for lower level access to permanent galleries and classrooms.
Permanent galleries that will reopen August 22 are:
Bow Gallery: European and American Art before 1950
Trees Gallery: Medieval and Early Modern Art
Arts of Ancient Peru: Andean and Meso-American Art before 1500
Art of the Ancient Mediterranean: Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Art
Moore Gallery of Decorative Arts: Ceramics, Pottery, Metalwork, Furnishings, etc.
Renovations will be completed in late October. The museum will celebrate with a Grand Opening reception in November.
