URBANA, Illinois – As the University of Illinois Division of Public Safety and police department maps out its vision for the next three years, it wants to collect feedback from the community on what its next steps should look like.
A draft version of the Division of Public Safety strategic plan for 2022-2025 was posted on the department’s website this week. The draft can be accessed at https://go.illinois.edu/UIPDstrategicplan.
Members of the community who are interested in providing feedback after reviewing the draft plan have two options to do so:
The Division of Public Safety will be collecting feedback until Wednesday, September 15. All comments will be reviewed by the Public Safety strategic planning committee before a final document is released this fall.
The public review period has two goals – to ensure transparency and provide an opportunity for community members to be included in the strategic planning process; and to confirm that the plan is consistent with community expectations.
“We serve our community. Therefore, we feel it’s imperative that our community members have a say in our vision for the future,” said University Police Chief Alice Cary. “We have collected a lot of feedback over the past year or so, and that has informed the goals that we have included in this draft. But we want everyone to see what our plans are before we roll them out, and this is one of those opportunities to do so.”
