URBANA, Ill. – A man has been arrested for a groping incident on the main Quad that occurred Saturday evening and prompted University of Illinois Police to send a Campus Safety Notice to students, faculty and staff.
On Monday morning, University Police received a report that a man had touched a student’s buttocks Saturday evening on the Quad. University Police sent the notice soon after receiving that report.
On Monday night, the student called police after seeing the man again at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. University Police officers responded and identified the man as Richard Endsley, 65, of Champaign.
Endsley was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for aggravated battery related to the Saturday evening incident. He was also escorted off campus and issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property, which means he can be arrested if he returns to campus.
