UHG joined the program in August of this year, and started recruiting at LER in fall of 2019. They had one full-time hire, Savreen Kaur, and three interns: Jasmine Roman, Kaila Sharp, and Nicole Spears. Alumna Cathy Goodman, AM 96, is the Vice President of Human Resources for Succession and Talent Management at Optum, which provides information, data analytics, technology and clinical insights to customers.
Their Human Capital Apprentice Program allows candidates to use analytical thinking skills to solve the most complex human resource challenges. During this two-year development rotational program, participants will have an opportunity to work across multiple businesses and human capital projects. Their Human Capital Internship allows students to explore the broader function of Human Capital throughout the summer, with exposure to leaders across the enterprise and opportunities for networking and professional development, giving them the opportunity to advance into the rotational program.
Savreen attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for undergrad majoring in Economics with a minor in Business. She went on to LER after her bachelors and interned at Honeywell last summer. She is currently in her first rotation in the Human Capital Apprentice Program as a Human Capital Partner supporting OptumInsight’s Payment Integrity team.
Jasmin Roman holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from UIUC. She has been a dedicated caddie for the past 9 years, where she was able to receive the Evans Scholarship, a full tuition and housing scholarship for caddies. She completed her undergraduate degree successfully by receiving the Bronze tablet university honors, which only the top three percent of their university class receives. She interned this summer with our Talent Marketing team.
Kaila Sharp Holds a Bachelors Degree from Eastern Illinois University in Health Promotion and Master’s Degree in Community Health, Health Administration from UIUC. Prior to her start at LER she held a position as a graduate assistant at the UIUC counseling center working with Eating Disorders and Disturbances, and is a five-year veteran of the Army National Guard.
Nicole Spears holds a bachelor’s degree in Learning and Education Studies with a concentration in Workplace Training and Development from the University of Illinois. Prior to her graduate internship at UnitedHealth Group, she has had internship experiences in Process Management, Human Resources, Learning and Development, and Communications. Nicole spent her summer working on projects in both Talent Analytics and Organizational Design.
