Phillip and Gerry Menzel have seen their gift in honor of their family matriarch, Patricia Menzel, come to fruition. The inagural Patricia Menzel Memorial Scholar was named this fall, and the awardee is Emily Stanciu. Emily is an Illinois undergraduate in psychology where she was an honors student, and is a native of Chicago.
"My father and I are thrilled with this continuation of our support," said Phil, AM 1987. "We are so pleased to be able to honor my mother in this lasting way. The School has played an important role in our lives, as did my mom, and this is a great honor."
In addition to the scholarship, the Menzels have also made a generous donation to the building, naming the entry stairwell. Phil and Gerry were the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award winners, and their nephew/grandson, Ray Anderson, is a 2012 graduate of the School.
