Michael LeRoy ‘s article “Targeting White Supremacy in the Workplace” (Stanford Law and Policy Review, 28:1 [2018], pp. 107-158), has been selected for republication in the 34th edition of the Civil Rights Litigation Annual Handbook, a prestigious volume for practicing lawyers, judges, and academics.

Eleven faculty, two adjunct faculty and two Ph.D. student TA’s were named to the List of Teacher’s Ranked Excellent for Fall 2017 for their teaching in LER: Richard, Teresa Cardador, Ying Chen, Lucy Headrick, Ji Wook Jung, Amit Kramer, Michael LeRoy, Yihao Liu, Joe Martocchio, Dan Newman, Young Ah Park, Justin Wiegand, Steve Merkin and Larry Pearlman. Dan Newman was also named to the list for a courses that he taught in Psychology. Michael, Joe, Steve, Larry, Dan and YoungAh obtained ratings of “High” (top 10%).

Richard, Teresa, Lucy, Ryan, Michael and Dan obtained ratings of “High” (top 10%).
Dean Fritz Drasgow’s paper "More than g: Evidence for the Incremental Validity of Performance-Based Assessments for Predicting Training Performance" was accepted for publication in Applied Psychology: An International Review and another paper “Conditional independence and dimensionality of nonparametric cognitive diagnostic models: A test for model fit” was accepted at Journal of Classification.
Eunmi Mun and Jiwook Jung’s baby girl, Sammi, was born on April 7th.
Michael LeRoy recently participated in event hosted by the Global Education and Training Office. A group of around 22Chinese executives that work in the field of Civil Medication came to campus for a U.S. Civil Mediation System program. Michael gave two lectures to the group on the topics of: “Binding and Non-binding Arbitration, Awards, Training, and Judgement” and “Arbitration Case Studies.”
Dan Gilbert will received LERA’s 2018 John T. Dunlop Outstanding Scholar Award at the LERA Conference. The John T. Dunlop Outstanding Scholar Award is awarded to individuals based on their contributions to research that address industrial relations/employment problems of national significance. The committee was especially impressed by his work in the area of the history of labor relations in sports. Dan’s first book Expanding the Strike Zone: Baseball in the Age of Free Agency (University of Massachusetts Press), had an impact beyond the community of labor relations academics and reached a wide audience, which was much deserved.
YoungAh Park had two papers accepted, “Customer mistreatment harms nightly sleep and next-morning recovery: Job control and recovery self-efficacy as cross-level moderators” at Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, and “The long arm of email incivility: Transmitted stress to the partner and partner work withdrawal” at Journal of Organizational Behavior.

YoungAh Park (along with fellow authors Sooyeol Kim and Lucy Headrick) just had their article “Daily micro-breaks and job performance: General work engagement as a cross-level moderation”, full accepted by the Journal of Applied Psychology. It will soon be published as the Online First Pub this spring.
YoungAh Park has official jointed the Editorial Review Boards at Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, and International Journal of Stress Management. She is also currently a board member at Human Relations.
Dean Fritz’s Drasgow’s chapter (with Julie Olson-Buchanan) “Technology-driven developments in psychometrics” was published in the edited book Next generation technology-enhanced assessment: Global perspectives on Occupational and workplace testing.
Staff Milestones:
Jason Boys won the Outstanding New Career Services Professional Award at the Hire Big Ten Plus/Allerton Conference in Madison Wisconsin. This award is given to an individual who has been in career services full time for four years or less, is viewed as a promising future leader within the function, and is innovative, creative and delivers outstanding service to students and/or the career services field (e.g. has implemented a new initiative and/or program, has presented on a career development topic on campus or at a state/regional level). In addition to a plaque, Jason received a $500 stipend to participate in future professional development.
Jason Boys and Ulyssia Dennis, MHRIR 05 and Engineering Career Services employee, were presented with the Lockin China Employers Choice Award, while at the Lockin China Global University Career Development Conference. This year, the conference was held in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Sanya. This award “recognizes the University of Illinois’ strong sense of mission to students' employment and active engagement in employment training programs. The university’s activeness in working with Chinese enterprises and Lockin China have achieved a significant effect on students' employment. The conference also recognized that our “career service team takes initiative and actively seeks cooperation with Chinese enterprises, and effectively helps University of Illinois graduates with their employment.”

Sooyeol Kim co-authored a paper with YoungAh Park that has been conditionally accepted in the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology. The paper is entitled “Customer mistreatment harms nightly sleep and next-morning recovery: Job control and recovery self-efficacy as cross-level moderators.
Sunjin Pak won a $1,000 scholarship from the Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI). This scholarship is available to all Korean Ph.D. students that are presenting papers at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting. The paper “Working too much? A Meta-Analytic Investigation of the Mediating Role of Vigor and Exhaustion in the Relationship between Working Hours and Work-To-Family Enrichment and Conflict” was coauthored by Yin Lee, Ki-Jung Kim and Amit Kramer.
