Ki-Jung Kim has had his sole author paper titled "Employer Strategy and Employee Job Quality: A Real Options Perspective", accepted for oral presentation at the 80th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM). Ki-Jung also had his paper titled "Teasing Out the Impact of Long Working Hours on Work-to-Family Enrichment and Conflict: A Meta-Analytic Investigation of the Mediating Role of Vigor and Exhaustion" accepted for presentation at the 72nd Annual Meeting of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA). He co-authored this paper with Sunjin Pak, Amit Kramer, and Yin Lee.
Lucy Headrick had her poster submission “Does emotional labor harm diet and exercise? A weekly diary exploration” accepted by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She co-authored this with YoungAh Park. Lucy and YoungAh also had a paper presentation “Work-related electronic communications during non-work time: Antecedents and outcomes in teachers” accepted by SIOP.
Grisel Lopez-Alvarez had her paper titled “Latinas’ Marianismo Is Associated with Workplace Negotiation Beliefs” accepted for the Association of Psychological Science (APS) Annual Convention. She authored with two other colleagues, A. Stuhlmacher and J. Chackoria. Grisel along with Teresa Cardador had their paper titled “Work in Progress: A Qualitative Exploration of Female Undergraduate Decisions to Specialize within Engineering Disciplines” accepted by the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Proceedings. Grisel and Teresa also had their paper “Work in Progress: A Qualitative Exploration of Female Undergraduate Decisions to Specialize within Engineering Disciplines” accepted by the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) annual conference/Women in Engineering Division.
Chen Tang and Dan Newman had their paper “Addressing diversity-Validity trade-offs via Pareto weights with orthogonalized criteria” accepted into the Multi-Objective Optimization in the Workplace: Addressing Adverse Impact in Selection Symposium at SIOP. Chen also had his paper “Adverse impact reduction for multiple subgroups: A Pareto-optimization approach” accepted into the Multi-Objective Optimization in the Workplace: Addressing Adverse Impact in Selection Symposium at SIOP. Chen is also presenting two posters at SIOP: “Using ensemble machine learning to improve assessment in personnel selection” and with Yijue Liang “Won’t stop searching: detachment, self-improvement, and job search outcomes.”
Yun Kyoung (Gail) Kim was selected as one of the finalists for the Alvah Chapman Outstanding Dissertation Award. This prestigious award is given by The Center for Leadership at Florida International University, and on behalf of our partner, the Network of Leadership Scholars of the Academy of Management. There was a blind review committee that also had members from nine universities.
Ki-Jung was awarded the POSCO Research Institute (POSRI) Scholarship by the Association of Korean Management Scholars (AKMS) for his paper "Employer Strategy and Employee Job Quality: A Real Options Perspective," which was also his 2nd year paper. The scholarship is awarded to a Korean doctoral or master's student whose paper examines Korean employees/companies as a main sample for his/her empirical investigation.
Aibak Hafeez (first author) and Ryan Lamare had their paper “An Empirical Examination of How Third-Party Neutral Sourcing and Qualification Differences Affect Employment ADR Practice Usage: Evidence from the Fortune 1000” accepted for publication in Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations. They also had their paper “The Effects of the Global Financial Crisis on Employment Arbitration: Evidence from Securities Industry Discrimination Complaints” accepted for presentation at LERA 2020.
