After December graduation, 27 students joined Jason Boys, Cory Hatfield and Nell Madigan on a trip west to visit alumni and companies in the Seattle area.
Monday, December 17, the group was sponsored at Boeing's Everett manufacturing facility by alumni Delight Deloney, Jaesun Lee and Ryan Nemethy. They were lucky enough to see the 747 and 787 lines, as well as seeing the 777-X as preparations continue for test flights in early 2019. It was the experience of a lifetime!
Nearly 20 alumni attended a happy hour at Re:Public Seattle, joining our group to mingle with each other and our students. Alumni and friends came from Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon, and Zulilly, among others. It was a great evening.
On Tuesday, alumnae Jennifer Basinger and Nastassja Rinderle welcomed the crew to Amazon, providing a panel that covered fantastic career advice and information about Amazon's culture. That was followed by a trip through the Amazon Spheres. Our only complaint? Not enough time to pet all the dogs in the workplace!
We ended the tour with a walk to Zillow Group, where Chief People Officer and alumnus Dan Spaulding and his team hosted a fantastic visit. We learned about the company, the culture, HR in the Puget Sound area, and Dan's career path. Lunch and a tour followed, with the final event being a panel of alumni around the area. Great thanks to Brandon Bouwkamp (Expedia), Emily Irish (Microsoft), Rashi Kumra (Uber), and Gene Paik (PepsiCo) for joining Dan on this panel.

Free time allowed participants to visit Pike Market, the Space Needle, the Underground Tours, Safeco Field's Christmas lights, and many other attractions.
We'd like to thank all of our host organizations, with a special nod to Boeing, who provided our transportation to Everett. We couldn't make opportunities like this available to our students without the partnership of wonderful organizations like this.
Stay tuned to see where we go next!
