Liz Haydu, MHRIR 2016, came to LER with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History. Here is her career journey, in her own words:
“As I neared my graduation from undergrad, I had some trepidation about what career path I should choose. I knew that I wanted a profession that allowed me to utilize and develop skills in strategic thinking, relationship building, and adaptability – I just wasn’t sure of the best profession to find it. That’s when I was introduced to LER.
Because of the resources at LER, I was able to kick start my career with General Mills as an HR Business Partner at one of the country’s largest cereal manufacturing facilities. Despite being early in my career, I was able to manage both the hiring processes and the employee engagement initiatives for the site. They even let me make some cereal!
Recently, I have transitioned to an HR Manager Role with Delta Air Lines, supporting the Technical Operations group. Delta is a wonderful company to work for, and I am very proud to have come full circle to assist in our HR Recruiting efforts at LER. Even though we are based in Atlanta, there is a great network of LER alumni at Delta that welcomed me with open arms when I joined the team. I have found that the LER alumni network has been invaluable in my early career, and I am confident that it will continue help me throughout my journey.
My time in Human Resources has allowed me to gain a variety of incredible experiences all rolled into one career. From employee relations to project management, there are no boundaries on the opportunities that I have been able to seek so far. Whether it is leveraging an area of expertise through a specialist role, to being an HR generalist partnered with a business unit – a career in Human Resources is truly challenging and engaging.”
