Patrick Walsh is a 2005 graduate of the MHRIR program and is currently the Senior Director of Human Resources at Frito Lay - Midwest Region Sales, as well as an LER Alumni Board Member. He has a regular presence on campus through his activities with PepsiCo's recruiting process.
When Pat was in the program, he received a scholarship from Frito Lay, and met several representatives which led to accepting an internship and then a full-time role with PepsiCo/Frito Lay. He decided to provide a scholarship for future MHRIR students as he attributes a big part of his success within the HR field to the School. His education here was the foundation to a body of HR knowledge, as well as access to careers in a variety of Fortune 500 companies. As Patrick continued to benefit from his experience at LER, he felt a pull to give back and help others achieve the same success he has achieved, which he maps back to LER and his scholarship. He hopes that his scholarship will “make it just a bit easier and less stressful for a student to pursue a rewarding career through the education LER provides.”
Patrick was surprised by how much of an impact his scholarship would make as he originally had the impression that he would need an exorbitant amount of money to create a scholarship, He was pleased when he discovered a mid-career professional like himself could easily give back. Along with his contribution, PepsiCo's corporate matching program doubled the gift he was able to provide making the scholarship even more impactful in a short amount of time.
