Subject: From every LER RSO: A Statement of Solidarity and a Call to Action
MSA, SSHRM, LIRA, and The Wellness Committee all stand together in solidarity with the Black community in the fight against racism, injustice and inequality. We strongly encourage the members of our LER family to commit the time to self examine, become educated on the depth of the current events, and take action in support of our Black peers.
Recognize the position you are uniquely in as someone pursuing a career in Human Resources and Industrial Relations. We have the ability to make a real difference behind the scenes as HR professionals through developing an inclusive, supportive culture at our future organizations. What you make a reality within a company extends to the daily lives of every employee. This is not a call for short term action, this is a call for you to consider how you can make support for racial equality a priority throughout your career.
The LER RSOs have come together to donate a total of $235 to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and we call on our community to join us in the donation. An immediate action we can all make together is a unified donation from the students of LER. MSA will be handling donations through Co-Treasurer Jorge Meza. Please send through Venmo to @MezaJorge (last four of # 0370) or PayPal to MezaJorge24@gmail.com (Venmo preferred as there are less fees associated). Donations will be accepted until June 30th and afterwards we will be sharing the final amount donated.
