Alumni Spotlight: Tracy YueYang Liu, MHRIR 2011
Tracy received her Master’s in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from LER in 2011. During her time in the program, she held HR internships with Hewlett-Packard and Honeywell. Since 2012, Tracy has served as an HR Analyst for the China National Petroleum Corporation’s Economics & Technology Research Institute (CNCP – ETRI) in Beijing. She recently said the following when asked about her time at LER and how it has led to where she is today:
“Three semesters in the School of Labor and Employment Relations lasts less than two years, but it influences your entire life. This was especially true for me in my early twenties, since it provided so many opportunities for professional growth. In addition to diverse courses, I was elected as co-vice president of LER’s Multicultural Student Association. Together with other board members, I successfully hosted several professional and social events for our school. This experience not only sharpened my organization, teamwork, and communication skills, but also helped me cultivate friendships and a strong professional network. Before graduate school, I made up my mind to work for a better future for Chinese State-owned Enterprises. SOEs are undergoing painful reform recent years, including the area of Human Resources management. Equipped with LER's treasure, I chose ETRI, the think-tank of CNPC, to crack the gene of SOEs and make improvements for it. By working on several projects and conducting investigations and analysis with different companies, the picture is getting clearer day-by-day. Although change is not easy, every bit of progress has filled me with a sense of accomplishment.”
