Jonathan Elifson (MHRIR ‘2004) became Senior Director of Legal Affairs with the Allied Pilots Association (APA) in July 2017. At APA, Elifson manages seven attorneys working on the Railway Labor Act (RLA) and arbitration issues, along with union administration and governance issues. The APA represents over 15,000 pilots for American Airlines.
Elifson previously was Director of Contract Administration and in-house counsel at the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA – Southwest Pilots Union). Before SWAPA, he held various positions at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for 13 years. He’s also a senior editor of The Railway Labor Act treatise/update published by Bloomberg/BNA. In addition to his MHRIR from the School of Labor and Employment Relations in 2004, Elifson graduated Southern Methodist University (SMU) Law school in 2009.
Jonathan and his wife, Kelly, reside in Dallas, where Kelly is an attorney for the United States Postal Service. We met at the NLRB and have two daughters, Caroline (4) and Margot (2).
