The spring semester in the online program started right after the New Year, with LER593 (Statistics) opening to students on January 2. Five new online students are bravely confronting statistics as their first class in the program, joining 26 students who started in August 2017. While the cohort is small, they bring a wealth of experience from organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico, Kraft Heinz, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Target, and United Airlines. We are excited to welcome these students as they build on their diverse knowledge and experience.
The class of Spring 2019 began their journey with a 3-day Orientation beginning on Wednesday January 11, 2018. During the orientation students had an opportunity to meet advisors, attend presentations from Alumni, try their hand at a CASE competition, and learn the art of team building through 4-H activities on the final day. Although the Spring class is generally smaller in number than the Fall admits, this the class of 2019 stands out from the rest with a uniquely large amount of variety with respect to students’ academic backgrounds. The incoming class is 19 students with the following undergraduate majors represented: Marketing, Financial Services and Finance, Management, Sociology, Philosophy, Communication and Communication Studies/Arts, Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, Political Science, Anthropology, Geography, Economics, Speech & Hearing and Japanese. Historically students have often had Psychology as their undergraduate background, however, this class may begin a new trend as Communication is the largest undergraduate major for this class.
LER welcomes the new students and looks forward to the exchange of ideas as you represent a diversity of thought and experience.
