MSA – Lunar New Year Celebration
Lunar New Year also known as Spring Festival is a widely celebrated holiday throughout the continent of Asia. This year, February 16 marked the beginning of the Year of the Dog. In honor of the holiday LER’s very own Multicultural Student Association (MSA) hosted an event where students were encouraged to come out and celebrate by learning to make traditional Chinese dumplings which carries a symbolic meaning as it is believe to bring good luck for the coming year. In addition to the dumplings students exchanged red envelopes which had well wishes for the New Year enclosed. Both International and Domestic student alike had a blast eating and enjoying each other’s company in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
Shell Etiquette Dinner
Last week, over 55 students were treated to a wonderful “Shell Etiquette Dinner” at Silvercreek Restaurant in Urbana. Nell Madigan presented business dining etiquette, from the time they would arrive to the restaurant to start to the conclusion of the event and our students enjoyed the learning experience. Thank you to our Shell hosts for the evening, Carolyn Whiteman (2002) and Erin Lattin (2008) for the wonderful event.
