Dear School of Music,
I’m writing to share updates on the Music and Performing Arts Library for fall semester. First, some of you know that Diane Pye retired last spring and that Nancy Taylor retired at the end of June. Because we are not able to fill these positions immediately, this will have an impact on our hours and services. I hope that this will only be true for the fall semester and regret any inconvenience our shortened hours may cause you and your students.
Fall Semester Hours
Beginning Monday August 23rd
Sunday 3-7pm
Monday-Thursday 9am-7pm
Friday 9am-5pm
Saturday closed
Course Reserves
We will again be able to offer physical course reserves for your classes and studios. We can also assist with locating digital versions of materials for you to include in Blackboard/Canvas. Please contact Bill Buss for assistance.
Instruction & Tours
MPAL is always interested in collaborating with you to provide library instruction developed specifically with your students and their information needs in mind. This includes in-person instruction sessions, visits to online course, the creation of asynchronous online instructional content, like LibGuides and video tutorials, and more. We also offer tours of the library that emphasize our spaces, collections, and available services. If you would like to request an instruction session, tour, or online content, please contact Kate at lambari1@illinois.edu or 217-300-5898.
Research Assistance
If you or your students need help using the library or tracking down materials beyond our holdings we are happy to offer one on one meetings in person or via Zoom. To schedule a meeting with Kirstin or Kate, please use the “Schedule appointment” buttons on our staff directory or email us.
During hours that MPAL is closed, the University Library has a robust chat service that can help with many logistical and access questions regarding library resources.
