  • Sinfonia da Camera Presents an Evening of Chamber Music

Sinfonia da Camera presents an evening of intimate—and adventurous—20th-century chamber music featuring their illustrious principal musicians. The evening begins with the most popular of Milhaud’s more than 400 compositions, Scaramouche for two pianos. Orchestra percussion stars William Moersch and Ricardo Flores join to present a performance of Bela Bartok’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion. The three-movement work experiments with the many varied sounds the piano and the percussion can produce together. Featuring principal oboist John Dee, William Grant Still’s Incantation and Dance for Oboe and Piano follows intermission with a melancholy evocation of a distant land that transitions to a joyful pentatonic dance. The evening concludes with Poulenc’s charming and exuberant Sextet for Piano and Woodwind Quintet.
