For future social media promotion requests, this will be the streamlined flow of events for departments external to the school of music:
The department needs to have the post on their own social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or whichever they want us to share to)Tag our handle (illinoismusic, here is our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter) The core posting team (mostly Ron, Angela and Joy Yang) will see the notification on our social media that we have been tagged. There will be no need for emails about post requests. We will then choose to repost or share their event to our social channels if it fits our calendar schedule of posts and brand guidelines.
These are the departments that are not listed on our document here under Department Links and Info (e.g. Counselling Center is external). If I missed any that should be there, please let us know.
For SoM faculty, staff and students:
The sub department needs to have the post on their own social media channels (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) if they have an account. Tag us (illinoismusic, here is our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter)The core posting team (mostly Ron, Angela and Joy) will see the notification on our social media that we have been tagged. There will be no need for emails about post requests. We will then choose to repost or share their event to our social channels if it fits our calendar schedule of posts and brand guidelines. If they do not have an account and want us to create the post, then their email needs to clearly a paragraph with this layout:
Date, time and location.
A catchy description.
The text needs to be less than 280 characters/letters for Twitter and 2000 for Facebook and Instagram.
Attach at least one clear, quality image or short video that is engaging.
*For example, if a faculty member wants us to share a news article, they need to send us a screenshot of the most salient part of the article or an engaging image, a link and a short written text blurb about why we should read it.
We have set up Box folders, and we may start using them in the future so faculty can upload their desired media into them for posting and a separate document for their captions.
Thank you very much!
