The Musicology Colloquium at the Vienna Summer Music Festival (VSMF) is currently accepting students for its 2018 season which will take place from June 11th - 30th. There are currently 20 slots available and applications will close March 15th. Priority will be given to students who apply early.
Participants will:
- Participate in rigorous historical study of Vienna and its surrounding cities
- Attend regular seminars taught by local Viennese historians on:
- The Music of Habsburg Vienna
- Die Zauberflöte and Mozart’s Vienna
- Second Viennese School and Wozzeck
- Visit libraries and museums in Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Salzburg, and more
- Work with musicologists specializing in music of the 16th & 17th centuries, popular music, opera studies, performance studies, digital musicology, and philosophy.
- Present papers and research to each other for critique
- Present research at the final VSMF - Musicology Colloquium Summit
