The UI Varsity Men's Glee Club will offer a special Spring season concert, on the eve of Easter, Saturday evening, April 20, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in Smith Memorial Recital Hall.
This concert event will feature Men's Glee in sacred masterworks associated with the Easter season, songs of brotherhood, and commissioned works composed by our guest conductor, and distinguished VMGC alum, Steven Hackman.
Steve, an accomplished composer, songwriter, and conductor with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is a major contributor to innovative compositional exploration, known as classical mashups which integrate aspects of classical and traditional practices with a broad spectrum of musical influences and genre.
In interest to provide faculty and students with an opportunity to encounter one of our former students and established professional artists in discussions of his craft with creative interchange, VMGC will host Steve throughout the week of 4/15-4/19 during several convening class activities and ensemble rehearsals.
We are grateful for this unique opportunity and hope to see you all during our culminating concert on Saturday with our guests, Steve Hackman, and the Other Guys, as Varsity Men's Glee Club presents Dreams of the NIght and Hope for a New Day !
Admission for Saturday evening's performance is $5.00 at the door.
