Job Descriptions
• Violin/Viola Instructor – Preference for this position will be given to violists or violinists with experience playing and teaching the viola. String Academy instructors teach private lessons, teach or assist with group classes, and attend recitals and special events. The position requires one academic year of internship during which the instructor will be provided pedagogical training and support. Internship: minimum 2 hours/week unpaid lesson observation and meetings; may be done independently or for college credit. Rate: $30/hour for instruction and $20/hour for assistance/support.
• Internships – The doors to the Illinois String Academy are open to anyone who would like to be involved with the program. One excellent way to involve oneself with the String Academy is by completing an official internship. Interns receive training in string pedagogy, observe lessons and classes, and interact with String Academy students. Interns register for MUS 459 and receive one hour of college credit per semester. Additionally, when Instructor positions become available, interns become internal applicants and are given preference in the interview process.
