The 7th Annual UIUC Student Film Festival – formerly known as Illinifest – is calling on all UIUC students and filmmakers for submissions of short films, video essays, multimedia content, and TikTok videos! This year, as last year, the festival program will stream digitally via the UIUC Student Film Festival website on Saturday May 1st at 5pm! To be featured in this year’s Streaming Event, submit your content by April 15th!
Enter to be featured in a diverse showcase of UIUC student short films! As we head into the second year of the pandemic, we understand and acknowledge that the technologies, locations, and processes of media making remain out of reach for many. Nevertheless, as the 2020 streaming event showed us, film and media offer an invaluable opportunity to engage with our ongoing predicament in critical and creative ways, and we encourage you to use any recording equipment at your disposal to tell a story! We welcome submissions on any topic – whether your media making pursuits compel you to engage with our uncertain present, recent past, and future or you are interested in exploring subjects beyond the ongoing pandemic. Submissions can take a number of genres: comedy and dramatic narratives, music and dance videos, experimental films, animations, documentaries, and video essays.
Enter to win an award! Audiences will be able to vote for their favorites and gift cards will be awarded for the winners: $100 for the best short film; $75 for the best multi-media content; $50 for the best TikTok video.
