If you’ve not yet watched the university’s COVID-19 Briefing Series session on SHIELD – Target, Test, Tell, I encourage you to do so. It describes the remarkable, large-scale, team-based effort mounted by the university and its partners to protect the health of the members of our university and our community and prioritize safety as we look toward the fall semester.
SHIELD is illustrative of what Illinois does so well. It is a concerted and truly collaborative effort that brings together teams of experts—whether visible or behind-the-scenes—to tackle a major contemporary challenge in an innovative and comprehensive way.
IHSI is proud to play its small part behind the scenes, along with the many other campus partners working together, in the SHIELD team’s efforts to keep the campus and C-U communities safe. The IHSI research development team is assisting with data collection efforts and utilizing Illinois REDCap in managing saliva test research data. The Illinois REDCap teams at IHSI and Technology Services are also helping to explore new integration capabilities with behavioral data from the Illinois App and health data from McKinley Health Center.
At the state level, the Illinois Department of Public Health is using REDCap’s new project build services to help manage the massive onset of data from collection sites and labs across the state.
During this time of responding to the challenges of COVID-19, many of the talented faculty, staff, and students all across campus have been taking on new responsibilities, extending their service on committees, and forging new partnerships. Regardless of position, title, or rank, we all have a role to play in assuring health—the health of ourselves and our families, and of our community. We hope you will join us for another "Ask the Experts" webinar this Thursday as we continue to explore contemporary health challenges, and (virtually) convene for a healthier future.
Stay healthy, safe, and connected.
